Have you been thankful lately? Although it may seem that sometimes life seems bleak, there are still a lot of things you should be thankful for.
Just try to see things in another perspective, think outside of the box, or just look within your immediate environment. I am very sure there are things that make your life easier.
Have you ever thought of thanking your refrigerator for keeping your ice cream cold? Or perhaps imagine your life without a microwave oven. Heating your food wouldn’t be easier without it. That’s for sure!
Now it’s my turn. Let me share 30 things in my life that makes me full of gratitude.
#GratitudeAttitude: 30 Things I am Thankful For
1. The Awakening
For me, it was a gradual process that took many years. It reached its climax when I was about 24.
Once you become awakened, you will start to question everything, especially the previous things you firmly believe in. You will see things in a new light.
Sometimes it feels lonely to become one. Sometimes it feels okay. My only consolation is the fact that I don’t fit in with anything mainstream.
2. The Sun
As corny as it may sound, I am thankful that there is a sun. It provides Earth and the other planets with light and warmth. Its mighty rays make it look like a proud king ruling over his loyal subjects.
Although I am thankful for its presence, I don’t enjoy the sun too much when I am in the city but I love when I am in the beach!
3. The Moon
The mysterious moon makes nighttime oh so beautiful! The night sky would be a total bore if it isn’t around, don’t you agree?
When its full moon, night seems like day. It looks lovely but when you’re working in the psychiatric ward on a full moon, expect a very interesting shift. That phenomena doesn’t make me like it less though.
4. The Sky
When I underwent Officer training for Citizens Army Training, I came to love the sky and appreciate it more than ever. The training was very exhausting. Our senior officers would make us dirtier than dirt and restless than a hyperactive pig and when it’s time for us to sleep on the ground like it’s a comfy bed, the sun would make me squint.
My only consolation when we were asked to point at the sun’s direction was the blue sky. Looking at it made me feel peaceful. There’s just something about the sky and it’s warm embrace. It makes me stare at it for hours back then.
5. Thoughts and words
I love thoughts because all the things we see come from it. If you have seen The Secret, you might have come across with the quote, “Thoughts Become Things.” It’s actually true! If you don’t believe me, too bad.
I love words just as I love thoughts. Whether it’s written or spoken, words combined with powerful thoughts can literally move mountains.
Sometimes, I used to write a lot of poetry in high school. A lot of you may have loved high school. I detest it, a lot! My constant companions during those times were poetry, music, and a whole lot of active imagination!
For me, music are music and rhyme arranged in time. For every significant moment in my life, I have a corresponding soundtrack for it.
I love classical and oldies music. Even if music is not playing on the radio, it’s playing on my mind on a perpetual repeat.
If you’ll ask me what’s the best band in the whole wide world, nothing can ever beat The Beatles! I mean it!
I can’t imagine life without music. It would be so bleak for sure!
7. The Colors
Red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, violet and all the colors in between, all come together for a feast to the eyes that should be seen.
Who doesn’t want a colorful world, right? Colors make all the virtual magic happen! That’s why I love ’em!
8. To All My Bullies
I was having second thoughts of including them here but, I can’t deny the fact that I am where I am right now because of all the things they did to me.
Thank you for being mean to me. I won’t be mean to all of you in return. I’ll just maintain my resting bitch face when I will meet you.
At first, knowing that I developed vitiligo shattered my world. I will never look the same way I did before. I used to think that the patches of white skin on my body was a curse. But in due time, I have come to love it.
My vitiligo makes me unique and interesting, physically-wise. I now call yhem beauty marks!
Ever since I was a kid, I used to stay outside of the house most of the time. When I grew up, I was busy passing my grades at school. Then just last year, I rediscovered one of my passion in life, traveling!
I now make it a point to travel at least once a month within or outside Cebu.
How do you feel when you eat chocolates? You feel happy, right? That’s because chocolates help release serotonin, the happy hormone.
That’s why chocolates are addicting. It makes us happy inside out!
12. Fruits and veggies
One of the most wonderful things that God has created for humans are fruits and veggies. Eating it makes our bodies stronger. Compared to meat, eating it feels lighter and a lot healthier!
We live in a tropical country. Summers are dry and humid.
Admit it! We all hate the “alimoot” feeling. That’s one reason why I love to eat ice!
14. Wind on my hair and skin on a hot summer day
Speaking of “alimoot,” don’t you just love it when wind hits your profusely perspiring face? It feels like heaven, right?
15. Sand On My Feet
When hitting the beach, I always make sure that I walk barefoot on the sand. Each grain feels like it’s massaging my tired and weary feet. It definitely feels good!
16. The Seas and Oceans
I love the sea! I love the ocean! Besides, my first and second names means the same; it means the sea!
No wonder I feel at home when I’m in the beach. Call me a beach bum and I’ll be one happy fellow!
17. Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division
Math is important. I learned geometry and trigonometry at school but never found them useful in real life.
Thanks to whoever had the awesome courage to teach me addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I am a very slow learner when it comes to math and I am thankful that I know how to do it.
18. The Richest Man In Babylon
This is a book that I have reread many times. I love it! It’s about a humble man who rose to power and became wealthy. The financial lessons on the book transcend time.
19. The stars
They twinkle and sparkle and they make my sleepless nights all worthwhile.
20. Napoleon Hill
Have you read Think and Grow Rich? If not, you should buy a copy and read it. If you are done reading it, read it again until all lessons are embedded on your subconscious.
I just love this book. Great job Napoleon Hill!
21. The Cashflow Quadrant
We live in a rat race world and in order for us to go outside of it, we should be informed about The Cashflow Quadrant. Most people are under the employee quadrant. The challenge for the people under this quadrant is to transfer to the self-employed quadrant then the businessman quadrant and finally, the investor quadrant.
It’s amazing how a simple table can explain financial success in one look. Robert Kiyosaki, thanks for creating the Cashflow Quadrant
22. Quotable Quotes
I love quotes! I used to collect and write it on my notebook. Quotes inspire and motivate me to face the challenges of life.
Man without knowledge is like an empty slab of stone. It’s just nothing. But when man has knowledge, man is transformed into a creative being capable of anything! That’s why I love it!
Knowledge is good but without wisdom, man is like a glass full of sand. Man must gain wisdom to become the best possible version of himself. Speaking of wisdom, my favorite is King Solomon.
25. My Pet Chickens
I used to have more than 10 chickens as pets. I enjoy looking at them, feeding them, talking to them, and stroking them. Unfortunately, just like any chicken, they all end up as dinner and I end up crying all night long!
26. My Pet Cats
I am a cat person. I adore cats! They look “suplado” but I love it! I had many pet cats back then but I stopped owning one when my last cat died of sickness. He died on my birthday. It was such a depressing birthday.
Life is difficult but thanks to friends, life becomes bearable and fun!
I love my boyfriend! He is my best friend and best chikadora. Hahaha! We talk about anything and laugh about anything. Time with him seems short because we enjoy each other’s company.
They’re the reason why we came into this world. They are our ultimate emotional and mental support
He is the Alpha. He is the Omega! He created everything and that’s why I am thankful!
