Have you been bitten by the Bisaya Bug?
Can’t help but along Balay Ni Mayang when you hear it on the radio?
Well, you’ve got Vispop to thank for that.
Balay Ni Mayang, Duyog, Laylay, Historias, Pa-Pictura Ko Nimu Gwapo and the other catchy Bisaya tunes are products of the annual songwriting contest!
And now that Vispop will have a music festival next week and will soon be going on its 4th leg, why should we keep on supporting it?
I have 3 reasons why!
Vispop Music Festival promotes Bisaya and Bisaya Pop Culture to the younger generation.
Rizal was right when he said that, “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.”
The future of Bisaya and Bisaya Pop Culture is in the hands of the young generation.
The role of Vispop is to reach out to this generation and let them know that events don’t just happen online.
They happen in real life.
Vispop is real!
Vispop Music Festival is a campaign that will encourage Visayans to express themselves in Bisaya.
Vispop was created with one thing in mind, to encourage budding and experienced songwriters to create songs that show situations and sentiments of modern Filipino life, specifically Bisaya way of life.
The centerpiece of Vispop is the music!
Vispop Music Festival keeps the underground or independent spirit fire alive.
Unlike other music festival and songwriting contests, Vispop is purely independent.
When music and songwriters are free from the chains of record labels, they can create wonderful Bisaya songs with more freedom.
This will enhance creativity on the part of the songwriters and the artists.
